Queensland Small Business Week 2016

12 January 2016

The Queensland Small Business Week will run from May 16 to 21 and will showcase the commitment, efforts and passion of the largest group of employers in the state.

QLD Minister for Small Business, Leeanne Enoch, said the event has been rescheduled in 2016 following consultation with the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland.

“The shift from February to May will give stakeholders such as our regional chambers of commerce more time to plan, and allows us to work with third party organisations to deliver more events,” Ms Enoch said.

“The emphasis will be on creating opportunities from challenges, and on boosting innovation, productivity and employment.”

Activities will include workshops, conferences, webinars, training sessions, networking functions and open days to provide more opportunities for business owners and operators to collaborate, gain knowledge and learn new skills.

It will also provide an opportunity for the government to engage with small business to gain a better understanding of their priority issues and challenges, and to get their input on future policy directions.

There are around 405,000 small businesses in Queensland, which account for more than 97 per cent of all businesses, and employ nearly half of all private sector jobs in Queensland.
