Tell customers you're COVID-Safe

We’re counting down to Christmas with our ‘12 Ways to Christmas’ tips - and the top of the list is to tell your customers that your business is COVID-safe. 

COVID safety remains a big focus for many customers this Christmas - particularly with an expectation of crowded shopping environments. Retailers have put a huge amount of work into their COVID safety plans and it’s important to continue to reassure customers these plans are in place and how they can work with you to stay COVID-safe. 

Here are three ways to help spread the news: 

  • Electronic Direct Mail (eDM)

As customers plan their Christmas shopping for the coming weeks, sending out an electronic direct mail (eDM) highlighting how your business is enhancing the safe shopping experience is a quick, inexpensive way to not only stay on the radar of your most loyal customers - but also to give them some ideas about different ways they can buy from you during this busy period. If you offer click and collect, or other pre-ordering or contactless shopping options, don’t forget to promote that. eDMs can be highly personalized, with smart fields such as name, location and interest meaning your customers feel acknowledged. 

  • Social Media

Your store’s social media accounts are a powerful tool for sharing and spreading important updates. Have you thought about pinning your COVID safe plan to the top of your Facebook feed? Or adding a line in your instagram bio to let your customers know that your shop has safety measures in place? 

For many people, social media has replaced Google. Not only is social media a fantastic method to share your business’s offerings and Christmas content, but it provides a great opportunity to reinforce your safety measures and trading hours to give customers peace of mind. 

For our Victorian retailers, now is a good time to reconnect via social media to welcome back your customers and share any additional safety measures you are taking and they should be aware of.

  • In-store signage 

Along with the required in-store Covid information, signage can be an engaging way to communicate to customers and passing pedestrians. It’s been a serious and anxious year for staff and customers - now we have turned a corner in a Covid infections rates it’s important to keep the vibe upbeat, authentic and festive to send a positive signal and ensure customers enter your stores with a smile. 

State and territory governments and Safe Work Australia have provided printable posters and factsheet material for businesses to use in-store. Incase you need it, here is where to find the government supplied signage resources:
